Defending champions Mumbai Indians and the returning Chennai Super Kings will kick off the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League on April 7 in Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium, it was introduced on Wednesday (February 14). The remaining will be played at the very same venue on Could 27.
The first double header will be held on April 8 with Delhi Daredevils hosting Kings XI Punjab in the first match, adopted by a clash concerning Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Eden Gardens.
Rajasthan Royals, also earning their return soon after a two-year suspension, will play their first match in opposition to Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9. The Jaipur-dependent outfit’s first house match, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, will be in opposition to Delhi Daredevils on April 11.
Other than for Kings XI Punjab, the other groups will get to play all 7 of their house online games at their common venues. Kings XI are scheduled to play a few of their house online games – in opposition to Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Daredevils – in Indore with the other four online games in Mohali.
The Wankhede Stadium will also host the first qualifier on Could 22 whilst the venues for the eliminator and the next qualifier – on Could 23 and 25 respectively – are still to be introduced.
There was speculation concerning a improve in match timings for the upcoming year, but that has been laid to rest with the regular timings staying retained.
