Liverpool star Mohamed Salah broke down after his final appearance for the club. The Egyptian forward made his last outing for the Reds on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

Arne Slot's men drew 1-1 with Brentford to secure a spot in the Champions League. Salah was taken off midway through the second half at Anfield and appeared to keep his emotions in check as he walked off the pitch.

But it was a different matter after the game as Salah walked around the Anfield pitch one final time. He clearly had tears in his eyes as he bid farewell, before receiving a gift from club chiefs Billy Hogan, Richard Hughes and club icons Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush.

Salah has yet to confirm what his plans are next, but sent a clear message to his now former teammates in a training ground speech the day before the Brentford game.

“Wait, one more thing I want to say,” the Egyptian forward said. "Being Liverpool , to win something for Liverpool and win games, it’s the best thing that could happen to you.

“I think it’s the best club in the world when you win something – and the worst club in the world when you lose. So you better win next year!”

Salah moved to Liverpool in 2017 following some impressive exploits in Italy, where he'd impressed with Fiorentina and Roma. Prior to that he had been a squad player at Chelsea and deemed surplus to requirements, but he quickly made a mockery of that status.

In his debut year the Egyptian would scoop the PFA Player of the Year award - one of three he would win during his time in England. He would also break the record for goals scored in a Premier League season, a record since taken by Erling Haaland .

Salah was part of the Liverpool side that ended their wait for top flight glory, proving crucial in the 2020 triumph. He was again central when they won it again last year. His first major honour was the Champions League in 2019, where he would score the opener in the final.

The forward will leave Anfield as the club's third highest scorer of all-time. Only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt sit above him in the list with Salah sitting ahead of icons like Steven Gerrard , Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.

Salah will depart Liverpool a year ahead of schedule having signed a two-year deal towards the end of last season, but the decision has been made to part ways 12 months early after a disappointing season for the 33-year-old.

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
