Seagulls swipe three points at Molineux

Brighton kept their European hopes alive with a 2-0 victory over Wolves at Molineux.

Danny Danny Welbeck converted a first-half penalty, and substitute Brajan Gruda netted his maiden goal for the south coast club late on to secure the win.

Wolves’ best chance fell to Matheus Cunha , whose acrobatic effort forced an outstanding stop from goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen .

The Seagulls now sit ninth in the Premier League table, level on points with Brentford , who occupy eighth.

Wolves missed several opportunities before the interval and looked more threatening for large spells of the second half following a triple change from head coach Vitor Pereira .

Welbeck, 34, reached double digits for league goals in a single season for the first time since his debut campaign with Manchester United back in 2009.

Gruda, 20, who arrived from Mainz last summer, sealed the win with a composed chip over Jose Sa in the 85th minute.

With three matches left to play and other results in the balance, Brighton remain in contention for back-to-back seasons in European competition.
