LAFC stun Toluca in stoppage time to put one foot in Champions Cup final

Los Angeles FC have one foot in the CONCACAF Champions Cup final after grinding out a 2-1 win at the death over Toluca on Wednesday.

Scorer : Tillman 51', Tafari 90+1'; Angulo 73'

Despite plenty of talent on the pitch, it was a quiet contest in the first half between these Major League Soccer and Liga MX clubs.

Neither side could muster up any genuine threat, but there was a scare for goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as he was forced into a double save just before the break.

It wasn't until the second half that LAFC grabbed the lead via Timothy Tillman , who fired the ball into the bottom corner.

This arrived largely against the run of play, with the hosts holding less than 30% possession.

Such a possession stat, therefore, paved the way for Toluca to bounce back.

Jesús Ricardo Angulo made the most of being gifted a foot of space and set himself up to find the bottom right corner beyond a diving Lloris.

However, LAFC managed to get the last laugh when Nkosi Tafari scored a late header with just their second shot on target for the advantage.
