Liverpool interested in signing Dayot Upamecano on a free transfer from Bayern Munich
According to a report from BILD , Liverpool are interested in signing Dayot Upamecano (26) on a free transfer from Bayern Munich . The France international defender has less than a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga champions, and is free to discuss a potential pre-contract agreement with clubs when the transfer window reopens in January.
Bayern want to keep the centre back at the Allianz Arena but have so far failed to reach an agreement with the 26-year-old’s entourage. As time goes on, the salary demands of the player have increased, and he has more power with several clubs showing an interest in his services.
Liverpool are facing the same situation with their own French defender. Upamecano’s former RB Leipzig teammate Ibrahima Konaté (26) is also in the final year of his contract and attracting interest from Real Madrid on a potential free transfer. The Reds could see the Bayern defender as an ideal replacement for Konaté.
