Mikel Arteta has instructed the Arsenal board to sign England star Morgan Rogers this summer, according to reports.
Arteta is keen to bolster his Gunners squad during the summer transfer window despite leading Arsenal to a long-awaited Premier League title.
Arsenal gave Arteta over £200m to spend on new signings 12 months ago and are expected to present a similar transfer kitty to their title-winning boss this summer.
Arteta became the first Arsenal manager since Arsene Wenger to win the Premier League, with the Gunners finishing seven points above title rivals Manchester City .

After celebrating long into the night on Sunday and enjoying a day off yesterday, the Arsenal squad returned to training on Tuesday ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final against PSG .
No matter the outcome of that Arteta will then finalise his plans for the summer transfer window and has already told Arsenal to enter the race for in-demand midfielder Rogers, according to talkSPORT .
It is claimed Arsenal have held ‘preliminary talks’ with Rogers’ representatives as they look to bring the 23-year-old to the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta is reportedly ‘leading the drive’ to try to secure Rogers’ signature ahead of Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United and would see his arrival as a ‘statement of intent’ after Arsenal’s title win.
Aston Villa value Rogers at least £80m but believe a bidding war between some of the biggest and richest clubs in the world could drive his price up to £100m.
