Antoine Semenyo breaks FIFA rule in England World Cup match as former ref speaks out

Antoine Semenyo broke a FIFA rule during Ghana's World Cup clash against England by wearing a different colour grip sock to the all yellow strip of his national team. The Manchester City star lined up for the clash with a white grip sock that was clearly visible between his socks and boots.
It is a requirement that any added item of clothing must match the kit colour with that officially ruled in Section 2 of the IFAB's Law 4. It states: “Any tape or material applied externally to a sock must match the colour of the part of the sock it covers.”
Former Premier League referee and PGMOL chief Keith Hackett spoke out on the incident after it was pointed out to him on X. He said: "Well spotted Pat clearly law not being applied."
Pictures of the 26-year-old during Ghana's opening game against Panama show he also wore the white sock grip then. Semenyo was awarded player of the match in that last-gasp 1-0 victory for his nation.
Against England however, Semenyo was largely kept quiet but Ghana did a brilliant job at stopping the Three Lions' key attackers from having an impact as the two teams played out a 0-0 draw.
Heading into the final matchday, they are only separated by goal difference with Ghana set to play Croatia and Thomas Tuchel's side going up against already-eliminated Panama .
Despite the dropped points, England remain favourites to top Group L which would set up a round of 32 clash against a third-place team from one of Group E, H, I, J or K.
