'I've played against Arsenal and Man City this season - it's obvious who the better team is'

Harry Maguire insisted Arsenal 's superiority over Manchester City this season was obvious. The Gunners captured the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years after Pep Guardiola's side drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The Manchester United defender featured in all four games against the Gunners and the Citizens this season. The Red Devils lost 1-0 to the newly-crowned champions on the opening day of the season but defeated them 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium in January.

Maguire's side also faced a 3-0 loss to their city rivals in September before gaining revenge with a 2-0 win at home in Michael Carrick's first game as interim boss. The England star started in the two victories and came on as a sub in the defeats and has since voiced his stance on which team was better.

Speaking on The Overlap, the 33-year-old told Ian Wright: "I've played both. Honestly, I always thought Arsenal were the better team when we played them. Just because, honestly, they give you nothing.

"They give you... they were so solid. We beat them at the Emirates, but we didn't create much and we scored two worldies. We played well that day, but we didn't actually create too much inside the box. Arsenal defend the box so well."

The former United captain went on to tip the north London side to pip City to the title. He told Wright: "I always thought you'd have enough. I still think you'll have enough." Maguire's prediction turned out to be correct as the former Arsenal striker basked in the glory of his club on Tuesday in a night of celebration among fans.

The Arsenal players and staff celebrated together at their training ground with videos of the wild scenes being plastered across social media. Minutes after their status as league champions was official, the club posted a video with Mikel Arteta's immediate message.

He said: "We made history again, together. I cannot be happier, prouder for everybody that is involved in this football club. Let’s enjoy the moment." The Gunners will be presented with the league title following their final match of the season against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
