Nottingham Forest have rejected Manchester City’s opening offer for Elliot Anderson. That’s according to The Athletic , which are reporting that despite the offer being rejected, City’s pursuit of the England international remains ongoing.
However, the report also claims that Forest will look to get the best possible deal for Anderson if he is to leave the City Ground this summer. And they would only consider offers of over £100m.
Since joining Forest from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024, the 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League . Both City and Manchester United had been keen on signing the England international this summer.
However, Old Trafford chiefs are not willing to meet the asking price of around £100m. United are also of the understanding that England international Anderson would prefer to join City instead of them.
Anderson is currently preparing for the start of the World Cup in the US, and speaking after Forest's final game of the Premier League season, Vitor Pereira was asked whether Anderson would stay. He said: "I don't have the answer. If you ask me if he deserves the best clubs in the world , he deserves.

"He has a lot of quality, he is a talent. But he is our player and I am very happy with him. The market is the market, I cannot predict the market. I know we want to keep the same players, to bring two or three players to help us balance the squad. In the end, we'll see."
Before he added: "This season was very, very tight in terms of the battle of relegation. Teams like Tottenham , West Ham , Leeds, Nottingham Forest , this season was very tough.
“To be safe three games before the end of the season, the last two games are very difficult in my experience. We did well, we competed, we went in a semi-final.

“It is not easy with the two competitions, struggling in one and trying to move forward in another. In the end, I am proud. We are proud of our work, of our supporters. I believe that next season we can go and do good things."
Anderson played in all of Forest’s Premier League games this season, scoring four goals and assisting four times. He also featured 12 times in their Europa League campaign, which saw his side reach the semi-finals.
Asked about his Forest future back in March, he insisted he would not lose sight of his No1 priority this summer which was the World Cup. “Obviously we’ve got the World Cup this summer so all my eyes are on that," he said. "Playing for England, I’ve got the badge on now so that’s all I’m thinking about at the moment.”
