Liverpool transfer news: Forward set to leave as new target 'under consideration'

Liverpool's defensive deficiencies have not yet led the reigning Premier League champions to seek reinforcements in the January transfer window . With just four days remaining for clubs to sign new players, the Reds have so far opted to continue with the squad they invested £450million into last summer.
The absences of the injured Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate due to personal reasons have plunged Arne Slot into a defensive crisis in a critical period that could define his Anfield future.
The Reds' backline issues have caused much of the fanbase to call for reinforcements to be brought in this month. But with just days left of the winter window, any new deals will have to be done swiftly.
Whether any arrivals are green lit before February 2 remains to be seen, but there's been no shortage of names linked to a potential switch to the Reds.

Liverpool forward Lewis Koumas is set to join Championship side Hull City in what would be his second loan spell of the season. The 20-year-old - who is the son of ex-Wales international Jason Koumas - spent the first half of the campaign at Birmingham City before his loan was cut short after earning just seven league starts.
A move to Hull, who are currently fourth and pushing for promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2017, is looked at by Liverpool as the ideal destination for the promising forward.
Koumas made his Reds debut in the 2023/24 campaign under Jurgen Klopp and scored on his senior bow in a 3-0 win against Southampton in the FA Cup fifth round.

This isn't the first time Liverpool fans have desperately been calling for a defensive signing after several injuries have crippled their backline. Having missed out on Marc Guehi to Manchester City earlier in the window, the Reds now appear to be looking elsewhere.
According to The Times , Rennes centre back Jeremy Jacquet is one name under consideration at Anfield. Jacquet has been mentioned in relation to a number of clubs this summer, and the Reds appear to face a battle with Chelsea and Bayern Munich for the 20-year-old's signature.
