Manchester City are not looking to pursue a deal for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez , according to reports.

City are keen to bolster their options in central midfielder, given the imminent departure of Bernardo Silva and speculation surrounding the long-term future of Rodri .

The club were linked with a move for Fernandez, who cast doubt over his future at Chelsea following the club’s Champions League exit two months ago.

It had been suggested that Enzo Maresca, who is expected to replace Pep Guardiola as manager this summer, was keen to sign Fernandez for his new club after the pair worked together at Stamford Bridge.

But despite that relationship, the Daily Mail now reports that City are not expected to target Fernandez this summer.

Instead, City appear to have made Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson their number-one target to bolster their midfield this summer.

Anderson’s sparkling form this season has seen him earn a place in England’s World Cup squad and attract interest from a host of top Premier League clubs.

Manchester United were one of the teams eyeing up a potential move, but it is said that Anderson would prefer a move to their rivals Manchester City.

Forest will not let go of their prized asset on the cheap though, with the club set to demand around £100million for the 23-year-old.

Asked about Anderson’s future at Forest last weekend, boss Vitor Pereira said: ‘I don’t have the answer. If you ask me if he deserves the best clubs in the world, he deserves.

‘He has a lot of quality, he is a talent. But he is our player and I am very happy with him. The market is the market, I cannot predict the market.

‘I know we want to keep the same players, to bring two or three players to help us balance the squad. In the end, we’ll see.’
