Nicolas Jackson has recently emerged as a target for a few clubs this summer. The Chelsea striker has faced a somewhat uncertain future at Stamford Bridge ever since Enzo Maresca brought in Liam Delap and Joao Pedro .

Jackson, who recently signed a long-term contract extension in west London, featured 30 times in the Premier League last season, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists. Playing a key role in Maresca's side, he helped the Blues finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League .

The Senegal international enjoyed an electric start to the campaign, netting all but one of his goals before the New Year . Jackson couldn't quite reach the same heights when he returned from a hamstring injury in April, but he still managed to show his quality.

With Maresca eager to bring in competition for the striker, Chelsea signed Delap and Pedro . But now, the Senegalese ace appears to have attracted interest from across Europe.

Newcastle are ready to sign Jackson

According to the i Paper , Newcastle United are ready to make a move for Jackson, who they value at around £60m. The report claims that recruitment executives at St. James' Park believe the Chelsea striker has a 'very high ceiling'

It's said that there would need to be movement at Stamford Bridge in order for a deal to be completed. The i Paper reckon that the Blues value Jackson closer to £70m.

Maresca provides Jackson update

Speaking to reporters at Cobham training ground on Thursday, Maresca provided an update on Jackson's future. The Chelsea boss said: "Nico is okay. I think as I just said, when the transfer window is open – unfortunately, or fortunately – anything can happen.

"This also involves Nico’s situation," added Maresca. "At the moment we also have had two strikers arrive – Joao and Liam – so we’ll see what happens."
