West Ham have doubts over Manchester United ’s willingness to meet their £80 million valuation of Mateus Fernandes, according to reports.

Following their relegation from the Premier League , West Ham now face the prospect of selling several key players this summer including Fernandes, Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.

Fernandes impressed in his debut season at West Ham after he was signed from Southampton last summer in a deal worth £38m plus £4m in add-ons.

United have already begun talks to sign Fernandes before the start of the new Premier League season , while Arsenal are also interested in a deal for the 21-year-old.

According to the BBC , United are yet to submit a formal offer for Fernandes but sources at West Ham are ‘dubious’ about their £80m asking price being met.

‘I would be surprised if the deal for Mateus Fernandes didn’t get done,’ Simon Stone, the BBC’s United correspondent, reported on Wednesday.

‘I believe the club are in a bit of a stand off with West Ham United at the moment, who are adamant they don’t have to sell and want £80m.’

Elsewhere, United have also agreed a £35m deal with Atalanta to sign Ederson .

The Brazilian midfielder is still to undergo a medical but United are confident the transfer can be finalised before Michael Carrick ’s side report back for pre-season training in July.

United are also targeting Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall , who is valued at £50m.
