During his tenure, he's managed five transfer windows, the most recent being the summer 2025 window, which came after the blow of Villa failing to secure a Champions League spot.

A trusted ally of Unai Emery , Monchi previously worked with him at Sevilla, where they clinched Europa League titles.

News of Monchi's impending departure, which surfaced on Monday evening, ignited speculation about Emery's future at the club.

However, BirminghamLive reports that Emery is not affected by Monchi’s exit.

What remains uncertain is how swiftly Villa will move to appoint a replacement, and who that might be.
