Arsenal crowned Premier League champions as Man City stumble at Bournemouth

Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years after Manchester City were held to a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
The Gunners put the pressure on Manchester City with their win over Burnley on Monday night, which put them five points clear at the top of the table, with one game to play.
Manchester City still had two games to go, but clearly had to win their penultimate match to keep the title race alive.
Pep Guardiola ’s side could not manage that as they were drew at the Vitality Stadium, with Junior Kroupi scoring for the home team in the first half and Erling Haaland only equalising in stoppage time.
That results leaves them four points behind the Gunners ahead of Sunday’s final day of the Premier League season.
Arsenal will now go to Crystal Palace in celebratory mood, ahead of their Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 30.
Manchester City host Aston Villa on Sunday and there will be nothing on the line, in what is expected to be Guardiola’s final game in charge of the club.

It has hardly been a disastrous campaign for City, having won the FA Cup and League Cup, but falling short in the two biggest competitions they have contested.
Arsenal are champions of England again for the first time since their Invincibles season in 2003/04 when they became the only Premier League side to go a whole campaign unbeaten.
It would have been hard to believe when Arsene Wenger lifted the trophy without losing a match that they would have to wait this long to be champions again.

Arteta adds a second major title to his CV as Arsenal boss and his first since the FA Cup win in 2020.
Wenger won all three of Arsenal’s previous Premier League titles, so Arteta becomes just the second manager to conquer the Premier League with the Gunners.
