Liverpool are reportedly content with having under-fire boss Arne Slot lead them into next season. The Reds' Dutch boss stunned the footballing world by winning the Premier League title in his maiden season at Anfield.

His title defence did not go to plan, with Liverpool losing 20 games this season and finishing fifth this term. Much has been made about the future of Slot, with several candidates in the frame, should Fenway Sports Group pull the trigger on the Dutchman.

Today's Liverpool news sees one leading manager reportedly throw his name in the hat for the Liverpool job. Elsewhere, a Reds legend has told Slot what he must do to keep his job at L4.

Andoni Iraola is reportedly open to taking the Liverpool job after confirming he will depart Bournemouth this summer. The 43-year-old has been linked with a string of top-flight vacancies since his exit from the Vitality Stadium was confirmed toward the end of this season.

It's understood that Liverpool have no intention of parting ways with Slot for the time being, however. Sky Sports claim Iraola had entered into discussions with Italian giants AC Milan, though talks are said to have since collapsed, with the Spaniard said to harbour doubts.

He has attracted the attention of Crystal Palace too, with Oliver Glasner set to depart Selhurst Park. Iraola is also reportedly receptive to a switch to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

Yet Sky have stated that Iraola has been candid with both AC Milan and Palace over his ambitions to manage one of Europe's top clubs. Reports suggest he remains open, and perhaps hopeful, of joining Liverpool - should Slot face the sack this summer.

Liverpool icon Jamie Redknapp believes Slot must get off to a winning start next season or face steep consequences. Redknapp thinks Slot has been treated harshly on occasion, but understands the anger emanating from Anfield after such a dismal season.

"Liverpool fans, in terms of a fan base, understand the game [really well], for me there's no one better and I totally get their frustration with the football this year that's been served up," Redknapp exclusively told Mirror Football. "It hasn't been good enough, been too slow, pedestrian but I would also say there's a lot of mitigating circumstances.

"Liverpool won [the Premier League] a year after [ Jurgen Klopp left] and when people say, 'Well, Slot won it with Klopp's team', but Klopp didn't win it with that team. So that's a little bit unfair.

"I think you've just got to trust the club, because Arne will need a little bit of help next year, because if Liverpool don't start well, he knows the price on the ticket, the pressure will come on him very early, because of what's happened this season. And Arne knows that, but I think my feeling is he deserves a bit more respect."

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
